Likes: Flowers, long strolls in the Spring, her umbrella, new clothes

Dislikes: Pointless complaining, wasting food

Personality: At first glance, Saori is the epitomy of the gentle, fragile, proper, young lady. She speaks politely to her elders and to her superiors, she enjoys learning about flower arranging and traditional Japanese dances, and her small frame does not exactly exude power. However Saori prefers to think of herself as an individual. She is polite to people because she wants them to like her, she likes flower arranging and dancing because she finds those things fun, and although she is small and her pale skin burns easily, she believes herself more than capable of handling everyday dangers.

Though she is polite, Saori is not soft spoken. She is more than happy to point out what she does not like about a persons actions, and if they complain she mostly just shrugs and asks them about the weather. Though she enjoys the company of people, she does not seem particularly bothered if someone criticizes her. If she accepts the criticism she may even thank the person for advising her, if she does not believe the statement is at all helpful she will say so, and if she does not care one way or the other she will likely get bored of the subject and change it.

Her outlook on life could easily be described as positive but pragmatic. She strongly believes that theres too much good in the world to be upset or angry all the time, but is not ignorant of the bad things that happen.

Saori doesn’t mind the prospect of romance, and even fantasizes about it from time to time, however she does not seem to believe it necessary to day to day life and believes that if its meant to happen to her it will happen.

History: Saori came to Pokimono from across the sea, where she was born into a family of traveling artists and entertainers. Always on the move, she and her family visited many beautiful places and saw many things. Eventually, however their business began to slow and the family began to lose money. They slowly spiraled more and more into poverty. This put some pressure on the family and some members left outright, to find higher paying work, however the remainder of the group carried on. There numbers slowly dwindled bit by bit, until only Saori and her immediate family remained in their single covered wagon.

Her father, an Aromatisse, attempted to keep their spirits up as they continued their travels. He found new ways for the family to be self sufficient in their ever changing environments, he made local friends quickly, and his creative thinking managed to earn the small family more and more money as they traveled until they were sufficiently provided for. Though they were still monetarily poor, they did not go without food or supplies. Eventually the family fell on hard times after they were stood up by bandits who made off with their cart, their belongings, and everything they had ever called their own. With only the clothes on their backs, Saori, her grandfather, and father and mother, made their way on foot to the nearest town. They attempted to be self sufficient but the nearby area did not provide much in the way of food or other resources. So her father accepted a job working in a mill, while her mother sewed Kimonos. Her grandfather, took to making perfumes to sell on the streets. And Saori herself performed in front of crowds for meager change.

Through the pooling of all their money, the family managed to find a small shack to live in and finally settled down. As Saori grew up however, she began to want a more independent lifestyle. She did not hate her family, but she knew that one less mouth to feed would make it easier for them to support themselves and her steadily aging grandfather.

So one night after everyone had gone to sleep, Saori lit a candle and wrote a note to her parents explaining her plans. She would leave in the dead of night with but the barest of possessions, and make her way across the sea to seek a new life for herself. She promised to keep in touch, and to send letters to them all the time detailing the new people and places she would meet and see.

And with that Saori boarded a boat, crossed the sea, and arrived in the country of Pokimono…
